We’re going through buckets of Sheetrock compound faster than you can blink!
We knew there had to be a bigger bucket we could buy, so we went to our home away from home…the East Liberty Home Depot.
We got there and realized why NO ONE buys the bigger bucket of Sheetrock…
It weighs like 500 pounds!! Even my husband, the freakishly strong man he is, had a hard time picking it up.
We got it back to the house and finished mudding and taping the drywall joints and seams in our bedroom.
Mark puts on a first coat, then does a light sanding and then puts on a final coat. The most difficult part is getting the compound on smoothly so that you can keep the sanding to a minimum. (Check out those veins!)
We still have to do the stairwell. Mark is not looking forward to that because he’ll be up and down the ladder and he still has the gash from when he fell off the ladder a few weeks ago. Maybe this time, I’ll be there to rush in and catch him! 🙂

I just love watching the two of you and the progress you are making on your new home, My wife and I bought an old home in Elderton two years ago and the work you are doing sure brings back memories LOL, We could have bought new or had a home built but my wife fell in love with the charm of that BIG OLD HOUSE , there is nothing like the rewards of your work when you are finished! Oh finished never comes LOL
Thanks for reading, Terry! I’m so glad you like the blog. We love the charm of our old rowhouse…but you’re totally right, I’m afraid we’ll never be done!
Finishing drywall is a real chore! A little tip, use a drill operated mixer on your compound. Will make it ‘creamier’ and easier to smooth out.
Thanks for the tip, Terry!
One more tip if you don’t mind. Pick up a plastic ‘mud pan’ to put your compound in. You can scoop the compound out of it and scrape your knife off the edge.
Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb
usability and visual appearance. I must say you have done a very good job with this.
Also, the blog loads super fast for me on Firefox.
Exceptional Blog!
