The happiness and positivity that was OOZING out of my last blog post is gone.
I am not a negative person and I don’t like dwelling on what’s “wrong” but I’m really bummed. I hate our floor.
Like, totally hate it.
When we put new pine floors in our upstairs, we used a clear, water-based polyurethane on them. I know we can’t imitate that exact shade downstairs, but we want that same lightness.
Our floor guy said the oil-based poly is more durable and should go on the first floor. We acquiesced and it turned our wood into a golden shade that looks like it belongs in a log cabin.
I think I’m more upset that we didn’t go with our gut instinct. Mark and I know to follow our intuition, and we didn’t in this case.
Now, we have to figure out what to do.

Courtney. Living in an old house and having renovated it from too to bottom–some areas more than once :(. Don’t be too upset. We did something very similar and in a couple months are floors gradually darkened –is that even a word—anyway we grew to really like it. So good luck!
Thanks Tracy! We are trying to figure it out – I’m bummed 🙁
Bummer Courtney 😕 I know how you feel, we built our house a few years ago & wish I could go back & change a few things….fix it now while you can or you won’t be happy!!
Planning to fix it now!
Once you get some area rugs and furniture on there, it will look great!
Thanks woman! I hope so
Not much help from me Courtney. However, I know you guys will think of a solution!
I hope so!
