I should go away for the night more often, and always with my sister in tow! We really had the best time on our sisters’ getaway to the Laurel Highlands last week. A little bit of culture, a little bit of nature and a big, delicious meal were exactly what we needed!
We started with a tour of Fallingwater, the iconic home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I loved all the modern furniture he designed that’s still in the house…it’s exactly the kind of look we go for in our own home. He truly was a genius!
Next stop was lunch at the Ohiopyle House cafe. Great food, cool vibe, highly recommend! And get yourself a cold, afternoon beer like we did. 🙂
All fueled up, we hit one of the many walking trails throughout the Laurel Highlands. We quickly realized we were better dressed for spin class but soldiered on! We found an easy trail near Cucumber Falls and did a 40 minute run together. It felt good to get in a quick workout, and I think trail running might be my new favorite exercise.
At last, we made our way to Nemacolin. The beauty of the place speaks for itself! Greeted with champagne, this Momma took a soak in the jet stream tub…that first sounded like a rocket ship! If you were following our IG stories, you saw how funny that was!
Our favorite part of the evening was dinner at AQUEOUS. The chef, Tyler Hutchison, is incredible and sent out the most delicious food! The oysters, salmon, halibut and scallops were cooked perfectly and plated beautifully. It truly was decadent and Kelly and I savored every bite!
We’re already planning our next trip to the Laurel Highlands…it only took us about 75 minutes to get there! I think white water rafting is in store for us next!
As you can see, there’s something for everyone in the Laurel Highlands. Find your adventure today!
