If you’re reading this, you probably saw my Instagram post. 🙂 I’m so excited to talk about pelvic floor therapy with you because 1 in 3 women have pelvic floor dysfunction (isn’t that crazy?!) It was so eye opening to interview AHN therapist, Colleen, who’s been working with women for the past 15 years and does pelvic floor therapy everyday herself!
Colleen says most women who see her have these kinds of symptoms: painful sex, peeing when they sneeze, leaks when exercising and pelvic pain several years after having a baby. She says kegel exercises are the foundation of the therapy she does with her patients, and it takes about 6 to 12 weeks to get your pelvic floor strong. It’s a marathon, not a sprint!
I think the biggest takeaway after meeting Colleen was how COMMON pelvic floor dysfunction is. Colleen’s mantra is “just because something is common doesn’t mean it’s normal!” If you’d like to make an appointment with Colleen or one of her colleagues, you can call 412-854-7010 and select option 2 or CLICK HERE to learn more about pelvic therapy for women.
