Hi friends! If you’re here, you saw my Instagram and Facebook posts and are interested in more information.

First off, I went and saw dermatologist Dr. Eddie Mount at AHN McCandless. He is wonderful! I was referred to him by my PCP (North Hills Internal Medicine) after going in to see them about the mole.

In addition to what I shared in my social posts, Dr. Mount said melanoma moles are the “ugly duckling” moles…they don’t look like your other moles. That was definitely the case with me. This one on my leg had irregular edges, was different shades of brown and black and looked like it was growing in size and getting darker.

My melanoma is stage zero and I’ll go back in for a re-excision procedure. I’m seeing plastic surgeon Dr. Dan Murario who will cut a little more around my scar just to make sure all the cancer cells are gone. I feel like a scar on my leg is a small price to pay for getting rid of melanoma.

I have so enjoyed reading all your messages and emails about going in for a skin check and taking your skin health more seriously. It’s so important to make this a priority!
